What I do not do
The most useful thing on this website might be this page.
A lot of harm in this industry comes from people who will not say no. So here is the boundary, plainly, before you spend any money.
I do not diagnose anything
Not autism, not ADHD, not depression, not anxiety, not addiction, not a personality disorder. If you want to know whether you or your child has something, that is a question for a licensed professional with the training and the authority to answer it. I can help you decide whether to go and find one, and I can help you sit with the answer when it comes. I cannot give you the answer.
I do not treat mental illness
I am a coach and a mentor. I am not a licensed mental health professional, and coaching is not medical or mental health care. If what is happening to you is a clinical condition, coaching is at best a companion to real care and at worst a delay of it.
I do not do therapy, and I am careful about the word
Therapy is a licensed activity with real training, real supervision and real legal protections behind it. What I do is a different thing with a different name. I will not blur that line to make a sale, and you should be wary of anyone who does.
I do not work with couples in the room
I work with one person about their relationship. I do not sit down with both partners, I do not mediate, and I do not do couples work. That is a licensed profession in most states and it is not what this is. If you want someone in the room with both of you, you want a licensed marriage and family professional and I am happy to tell you what to look for.
I do not work with people in active crisis
If you are in danger, actively suicidal, in withdrawal, or in an unsafe home right now, coaching is the wrong tool and I would be doing you harm by taking the booking. Call or text 988 in the US for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or 911 in an emergency. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233. Come back to me afterwards if you want to. I will still be here.
I do not prescribe, and I do not advise on medication
Not what to take, not what to stop, not how to taper. Ever. That is a physician's job and it is not a grey area.
I do not guarantee outcomes
Nobody honest does. I cannot promise you will feel better, save your marriage, or find your purpose in six weeks. I can promise to pay attention, to be honest with you, and to tell you when I think you need something I am not.
What this leaves
Quite a lot, actually. Working out what you actually want. Understanding why you keep reacting the same way. Deciding what to do about a situation nobody else can decide for you. Getting your feelings into words for the first time. Having one hour a week where somebody is genuinely paying attention. That is the work, and it is real work.
